Candygrams takes about 15 minutes to play

Since we launched Candygrams, we’ve gotten plenty of praise. We’ve won nine national awards and great reviews continue pouring in from every demographic: families, students, teachers, home schoolers, gamers, English language learners, crossword enthusiasts, and even wordsmiths.

“Why didn’t someone think of this game 50 years ago?”

“It uses all the intelligence of Scrabble and Bananagrams, but the dice add an extra element of fun and inventiveness”

“It’s truest strength lies in its simplicity. Young players can play on one level and word nerds can appreciate it on another. But the magic is both groups could enjoy playing together.”

One compliment we hear a lot is about the game’s short playing time. The “standard” version of Candygrams takes about 15 minutes to play. The “express” version, which we call a “sugar rush,” takes about 5 minutes. Contrast this to other word games, some of which can feel overwhelmingly immersive and take hours to play.

Candygrams’ shorter play time makes the game more accessible. It’s certainly easier to find time to play a game that takes 15 minutes than one that takes one, or two, or even three hours. This is especially true if you have a limited window or opportunity or if you are playing with children.

The shorter play time also makes Candygrams more re-playable. When one game is over quickly, you can start a new game right away. This keeps things fresh and exciting.

Let’s face it, long games tend to get frustrating and boring. They can stretch on and feel repetitive. This is especially true if the game is complex or if there’s a lot of downtime between turns.

Candygrams is short and sweet. And that makes it — quite simply — more fun to play!

(Hey, so you want to play longer? How about best out of three? Hmm…better yet, why not make it best out of seven?)
